There are several critical aspects to a highly effective oral hygiene routine. This includes the oral hygiene products you use as well as your brushing and flossing technique and attending your regular dental checkup with Dr. Rafla.

Your oral health is greatly improved by using quality products for brushing, and flossing your teeth as well as your regular dental checkups. You should only buy oral hygiene products that have earned American Dental Association Seal of Acceptance, for safety and effectiveness.

The ADA recommends that you brush your teeth with a soft bristled toothbrush and abrasive toothpaste teeth twice each day. A toothpaste with fluoride will also help to fortify the strength of your tooth enamel.

Once you are done brushing, you should floss between your teeth and along the gum line. Flossing is the most effective to remove plaque and trapped food particles to prevent them from hardening into tartar. If you’ve a hard time working floss between your teeth in the past, you might want to try a wax coated dental floss. The waxy coating makes it easier to slip the strain of floss into tight spaces without accidentally forcing it into your gums.

Once you are done flossing you can rinse your mouth with antiseptic mouthwash to kill bacteria and freshen your breath.

Your regular dental checkup with Dr. Rafla is important for removing hardened tartar as well as detecting early signs of tooth decay, gum disease, and oral cancer.
